Board of Directors
The Redwood Art Association is governed by a Board of Directors that is responsible for management of the affairs of the organization, coordinating activities and making decisions about how the organization can best serve the membership and the community. It is a working board and members donate their time, skill and energy to present successful events and worthwhile activities.
The Board meets once a month. If you would like to communicate with the Board or a Board Member, you may send an email to info@redwoodart.org and your message will be forwarded.
The Board Members for 2008 are:
Roy Grieshaber, President
Digital artist from Eureka with forty years experience as a marketing professional. He is a member of the Eureka Art and Culture Commission and a former co-owner of Heartwood Institute.
Robert Haynes, Vice President
Wood sculptor and photographer from Arcata, retired art professor after 39 years of teaching plus many years experience in arts administration and advocacy at the local, county and state level.
Martha Haynes, Secretary
Fiber artist and photographer from Arcata, recently retired from HSU faculty where she taught future elementary school teachers. Her interest is providing arts experiences and education for children.
Sara Starr, Treasurer
Following a career in the natural and organic foods movement, she has returned to her early passion of painting and tile-making. From Arcata, she remains an advocate for a balanced life that includes art.
Julia Bednar, Past President
A Eureka artist whose paintings reflect the natural world. Retired from a career in insurance and child welfare organizations. Member of the Humboldt Arts Council Board and the Fortuna Arts Council.
Karen Berman
Landscape painter and watercolor artist of Bayside coming from a career working with North Coast non-profit organizations.
Brenda Bryan
Sculptor, spiritual artist and life coach from Eureka with experience in business management and grass roots community organizing.
Robert Fasic
Photographer from Eureka, attorney, financial planner and former co-owner of Heartwood Institute. He is Vice-Chair of the Eureka Redevelopment Advisory Board.
Eric Furman
Metal sculptor from Fortuna using re-machined recycled materials, a retired research and development scientist with a career in digital imaging techniques.
Murline Georgeson
Photographer and nurse from Eureka, retired from hospital administration. A board member of the Redwood Camera Club, the Humboldt Senior Resource Center and on the Editorial Board of Senior News.
Betty Littlefield
Enjoys watercolors, oils, acrylics, sewing & crafts of all kinds. Eureka Natural Foods owner, Masters in Psychology, a Humboldt Sponsor, member of Wise Old Women, and bridge enthusiast from Eureka.
Michael McCoy
Digital photographer from McKinleyville, compliance officer and risk manager for a local bank, with organizational, project management and policy development skills.
Jack Sewell
Sculptor and R.N. from Eureka, active on the RAA Board of Directors more than 15 years. Works in a wide variety of materials to illustrate the human figure in miniature to monumental scale.
Diane Williams
Pixel painting and digital collaging now fill this Eureka artist’s days, but before retirement she was merchandise manager for a major retail company with event planning and sales team building her specialty.
Hal Work
Digital artist from Fieldbrook with a career in the computer industry. He is Adobe user group manager for Eureka Photoshop Users Group and webmaster for Old Town Art Gallery and his company Lucid Works.
